PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE | July 19, 2021
Letter to the President
ACM and over 300 community media organizations are calling this week on President Biden to nominate a fifth Commissioner to the Federal Communications Commission.
We believe it’s important for the FCC to be fully functioning so that harmful communications policies can be reversed and the job of ensuring equitable and representative communications for all Americans can be met.

My thanks to all the organizations and communities that signed on to the letter. Please share it with your US Senators and Representatives and ask them to join the call to restore the FCC to its full power. If you need assistance with this, contact me at mwassenaar@allcommunitymedia.org.
City of Eugene vs FCC
Parties representing local governments and cable commissions in City of Eugene vs FCC have asked the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear the case. You can find the legal briefs on the
ACM website here.
We’ll know more about the petitions in coming weeks. In the meantime, we are monitoring the actions of cable companies to see if they are attempting to reduce franchise fee compensation to local communities under the FCC’s Third Report and Order on Cable Franchising.
