PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE | January 4, 2021

Welcome to 2021

We are beginning a series of meet ups for PEG organizations across the country to better support professional networking on a state level – if you’d like to sign up for one, you can do so here. If you don’t see your state listed, let us know and we can set up the meeting!

Our Public Policy briefing calls will continue for members in 2021. The first call is Thursday, January 7 at 4 pm ET. If you’d like invites to the calls and recordings of the briefing, let us know at info@allcommunitymedia.org and we’ll put you or other members of your organization on the invitation list.

Applications for the Hometown Media Awards open TOMORROW January 5 – you should consider entering in a specific category or in the overall excellence categories to bring national recognition to the great work your organization did in your community in 2020!  There are many, many great examples of excellence that community media organizations have done in this last year as a result of Covid, historic elections and unprecedented protest.  For information about this year's awards and to enter check out our website!

Executive Director Openings

I’ve long thought that community media operations based in state capitols can have a particular importance for our field – both for covering issues and ideas being debated in the community, but also for demonstrating the worth and power of community media work to state legislators.

That’s why I’ve been monitoring a couple of Executive Director openings in our field – and hope you and other leaders in our field will think about the opportunities ahead.

One is the opening at Access Sacramento – a long time ACM member organization where ED Gary Martin is retiring this spring. It’s a unique opportunity – and the deadline for applications has been extended to next Monday 1/11.   Click here for more information and to apply!
