Hometown Media Awards Virtual Watch Party!

I brushed off my tux and got together with friends from across the United States last week to record a virtual Hometown Media Awards.

We figured since we would not be together for the Hometowns in Chicago, we wanted to bring people together to show off the best in community media at the event.

I hope you’ll join us for a virtual watch party on Thursday, July 9 @ 8 pm ET (and be sure to have refreshments at hand!).  We’ll be sending out details this week to all members and award winners so be sure to mark your calendars to be a part of the party. 

And my thanks to Scott Mercer, Jena Arcangel Miller, Alease Annan, Michelle Alimoradi and Tony Campos for their help co-hosting this year’s event – especially because Tony had appendicitis when we were recording!!! Get well, Tony!

ACM Public Policy Call 

Because of the July 4th Holiday and our Annual meeting on July 2, we will not be scheduling an ACM Public Policy call this month – BUT you do have the opportunity to build some advocacy skills this month as Gerry Lederer from Best, Best & Krieger leads a workshop on Advocacy under Covid on Thursday, July 16 from 3 - 4:30 pm ET. 

This workshop is great for folks who want to better understand the rule of the road for advocacy and want to build skills to advocate for your organization better.  It would be great for board members, volunteers and staff members and for anyone who wants to advocate for their department or organization more effectively. 

And also this month, Sue Buske will lead discussions on how media centers are diversifying their revenue, including cases from rural and urban and large and small operations.
