PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE | JULY 22, 2019

FCC DEADLINE APPROACHES

This Thursday 7/25 is the deadline for ex parte comments and letters to the FCC about the proposed rules on cable franchising that we expect will be voted on August 1.  That means we just have a few days for members of Congress to express their concern or opposition to the rule (as Rep Jahana Hayes (CT) and Jared Huffman (CA) did this past week).  And any other letters about the rules should be submitted to the FCC at fcc.ecfs.gov under Docket Number 05-311 to be considered to be on the record for consideration – either by the Commission or in any later legal proceedings.

I’ll be at the Commission offices this week with our municipal coalition partners making last arguments about the rules before the deadline.

Because the vote will be happening on August 1, we will be moving the regularly scheduled ACM Public Policy Call to August 8 at 4pm ET.  We’ll be talking next steps and what you may expect with rule implementation on the call, so please join us and invite others to call in.  Email me at mwassenaar@allcommunitymedia.org for call information to join us – and let me know if you need any materials for a last minute push on the rule this week.

Thank you!
