Emerging Leaders Scholarship Winners

Congratulations are due to the winners of the ACM Foundation's scholarship to the Emerging Leadership Institute taking place at this year's ACM National Conference in Portland, OR. The Foundation will be supporting travel costs and education costs for four emerging leaders:

Benjamin Vinar, Bloomington, MN
Jenn Ramsey, Easthampton, MA
Heather Rigby, Chippewa Falls, WI
Seth Ring, Gresham, OR

Our thanks to everyone who applied for a scholarship. There were many great applications from across the country and the competition was pretty fierce.
There are still openings for the two-day training being led by Paula Manley and Toni Tabora-Roberts on July 8 & 9. You can find out more about the training on our website here .

If you want to attend or support someone else in your organization who wants to attend, please let me know at mwassenaar@allcommunitymedia.org
And of course registration for the conference is open now .

Rep. Speier Speaks Out

Representative Jackie Speier of California is the latest Congressmember to speak out against the FNPRM on cable franchising and so-called "in-kind" rules. She wrote to FCC Chair Ajit Pai that the proposed rules would pull the rug out from under PEG operations and she strongly opposes it.
Great work by our member stations Millbrae Community Television, Pacific Coast TV and Tracy Rosenberg from the Media Alliance in reaching out to Rep. Speier!
We now have 34 members of Congress opposed to the FNPRM - but we need more. Reach out to your congressional offices today!

ACM Midwest Region & WCM Conference

Thanks to all our members with ACM Midwest and to Wisconsin Community Media for their hospitality this past week at their Spring event in the Wisconsin Dells. It was a treat to catch up with colleagues in the Badger State and talk about advocacy tools and approaches - and to sign up some folks on our petition page here!
