Please join us for the second CMCs and the Future of Local News Virtual Meet-Up on Thursday, May 29th, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET. 

These meet-ups are designed to organize practitioners who are using community television and radio infrastructure to proactively address local news and information needs. This peer-to-peer sharing is an effort to improve how we track the development of such programs, tell stories about how they’re making a difference in our communities, and learn best practices that can be adopted to enhance our work on grassroots local levels. 

These virtual sessions will be recorded and summarized to share knowledge within our practitioner networks and inform Dr. Antoine Haywood’s research on the growth potential of CMCs in the context of local news and civic information landscapes.

This month’s meet-up will feature presentations about the development of two local news programs:

Two brief presentations will explain how and why these programs were initiated, what practical lessons were learned along the way, and how they evaluate community impact and pursue sustainable growth.

Following the two presentations, 30 minutes will be designated for open discussion.
