Giving Tuesday Recap

We had 50 donors step forward last week to support next year’s Community Media Emerging Leaders Institute and other ACM Foundation programs on Giving Tuesday.  What an excellent way to kickstart 2021!  Mark your calendars for next year’s Institute, which will be taking place over four weeks in October for participants across the country.

Of course, if you didn’t give last week, there are still opportunities to make an impact through the Foundation – the Inclusion, Equity and Engagement Caucus is looking for support to keep expanding their work and to make sure we offer grassroots scholarships to upcoming national conferences.  You can make a tax-deductible gift to the Foundation here.

Community Media Directory

ACM is continuing to expand the listings in the Community Media Directory – as of this week we have 1676 organizations listed that operate PEG channels in all 50 states – and the US Virgin Islands!  Check out your listing here and let us know if we’re missing anyone in your area!

FCC Update

The news from Capitol Hill is that Senate leadership will ask for a cloture vote and possibly a floor vote this Wednesday for FCC nominee Nathan Simington.  We’re asking ACM members to contact their US Senators before the end of day Tuesday, December 8 to ask that the Senate not act on his nomination in the lame duck session.

Why?  Well, a vote for Simington may prevent any progress in a Biden Administration FCC – and we think elections are supposed to have consequences.  Read more here.

So call your US Senate office before Wednesday – Call the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected with your Senator’s office.

Thank you!
