ACM’s Sweet Home , Stay at Home Workshop Series has been developed as intensive, interactive and informative sessions to cover a variety of topics and issues important to your career, your stations and our industry The Sweet Home, Stay at Home Workshop Series offers:

Learn how to write case statements—a fundamental aspect of fundraising—and walk away from this series with a reviewed draft case statement that you can use as a springboard for your next fundraising opportunity.

Change happens these days at lightning pace and community media centers must be ready to quickly adapt. A three-part series will examine preparedness through a road map for the future that will strengthen, build relevance and raise community awareness for the organization while addressing long-term financial stability.

Learn best practices in traditional and virtual advocacy and come away with effective tools to help you communicate the importance of the challenges facing community media.

Making the Case - How to Write the Essential Building Block for Fundraising Appeals (two parts):
Parts 1 & 2,  June 24 & July 1, 3:00-4:30 pm ET  with Tony Spearman-Leach 
Case Statements are a fundamental part of fundraising of all types.  They are also integral to your Board and your staff understanding the “Why,” “The Need,” and “How” you contribute to the communities your organization serves.   They say what are your outcomes and impact and what you hope to do with the gift you are asking for – whether it’s an individual gift or a grant.    
In this practical workshop, we will explore why case statements are necessary AND useful and what the elements of the best ones are.  We’ll give advice on writing the case statement for your own proposals, and we will provide feedback on your work.   At the end of the two-part workshop, participants will have draft case statements they can adapt and use in both staff and board training and in the fundraising work in their communities.

Re-visioning Community Media Centers- Building Relevance and Sustainability (three parts): 

Part 1 July 7, 3-4 pm ET; Parts 2&3  July 14, 3-630 pm ET with Sue Buske, et al.
Community Media Centers must operate at the convergence of technological change and local communication needs in order to stay relevant and financially sustainable.  We’ll examine what it takes to create a road map for the future.  In part one of this three-part seminar you learn about a planning process designed specifically for CMC’s that can help build relevance for a community media center, raise community awareness for the organization, examine board and governance changes that maybe needed, and build long term financial stability.   Part two and three will focus on financial sustainability while staying true to the organizations’ mission and dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on funding.  We will explore six different categories of non-cable funding that have been successfully implemented in a variety of different size community as well as the similarities and differences between small, medium, and large and rural, urban, and suburban.

Advocacy in the Age of Covid-19:

This workshop will provide insights into the need to communicate the importance of, and the challenges facing community media.  We will focus on best practices in traditional and virtual advocacy, and come to understand that they are not all that different.  We'll practice techniques and give participants the tools they need to advocate for their cause.  Appropriate for staff, Board members, volunteers and donors who wish to advocate for your organization.
