Weekly News From the President: Offsite Events at the ACM National Conference

Offsite Events at the ACM National Conference

If you’re planning your trip to Baltimore and the ACM National Conference in July, I’d like you to think about a couple of activities taking place OUTSIDE of the conference hotel.

On Tuesday night, July 10, on the eve of the Conference, we’re organizing an outing to see the Baltimore Orioles take on the New York Yankees at Camden Yards.  We’ve arranged for group pricing of $41 per ticket for conference attendees that you can get through the Orioles at their website. Simply enter July 10, and enter the coupon code ACM to get tickets.

I’d like to suggest getting tickets in Sections 60-64, that way we can organize cheers during the game!

The next day, we’ll be organizing a day trip to Washington DC for Hill Day activities in the US Senate and House offices.  It’s a great experience to walk the halls of Congress to tell our story, and whether you’ve done it or not, we’ll help you tell your Senator or Representative why community media must be preserved and protected in 2018 and beyond. Be sure to sign up through our website for Hill Day by June 22 and join us in DC!

ACM NW Regional Media Summit

My thanks to the ACM Northwest Region Board and all the folks who attended their 2018 Media Summit this past weekend in Portland, OR.   It was a great couple days of information and inspiration!

I was part of a discussion on Board Development and Strategic Planning that I will be revisiting next week at the Wisconsin Community Media – ACM Midwest conference in Oshkosh, WI.  If you want more information about THAT meeting, check out their website.

Grassroots Scholarship Fundraiser

And finally a big THANK YOU to all the folks who put us over the top on our fundraising drive to support Grassroots Scholarships to the National Conference this year and in future years!

People increased their support this year and it will mean a lot to scholarship recipients who get travel assistance.  The campaign officially closes at Midnight tonight Eastern Time, so if you’d like to join in and support the cause, go to www.mightycause.com/story/Ru7eof.
