Weekly News From the President: New Member Benefit & Report for America Deadline
New Member Benefit
I’m pleased to announce a new benefit for Members of ACM. Starting this week, members get discount pricing on the already low prices at B&H Photo and Video. We think this will help stretch your equipment dollars and will increase your impact in the community you serve!
To take advantage of the benefit, click here and create an account.
If there are other ways ACM can help you do your work at your community media center or channel, let us know! We’re always interested in finding ways to increase the value of your membership!
New Report on Revenue Models for Local Media
The Tow Center for Digital Journalism has together an extremely useful guide for how to grow revenue for local journalism. It’s been mostly compiled by looking at media start-ups in the last decade that have been trying to fill the void in local news coverage, weighing successes and failures. As you’re thinking about growing revenue for your channels and local projects, you can use this as a road map to show you what’s working.
You can find the report here.
Report for America Deadline
If you know of a young producer interested in building a news career, there’s a unique opportunity that’s been developed by Steve Waldman and Report for America. They are placing aspiring reporters at news organizations around the country and PAYING them.

The deadline for applications is March 23.
