Central States & Northwest Regional Conferences

A big thank you to the Central States and Northwest Regions of the ACM for inviting me to be a part of their regional events the past two weeks.  It was great connecting with people and organizations from so many states that came together in Cincinnati and Portland.

Open Signal

The Board of Directors also made a point to visit our members and colleagues in Portland who gathered at Open Signal for the Northwest Media Summit. That visit is part of an ongoing commitment the ACM leadership has to keep connected with our diverse members across the country.

What’s Open Signal?  Well, it’s the newly rebranded Portland Community Media, which is looking to reinvent and reinvigorate community media work in the City of Roses. More information is on their website at www.opensignalpdx.org.

Open Signal’s Executive Director, Justen Harn, had an interesting discussion with Marty Jones, another new leader of a longstanding Portland-area community media organization, Metro East Community Media at the Summit.  You can watch a video on their discussion about re-visioning community media work on YouTube. It’s worth the look!
