Weekly News from the President: Deadlines Approaching Soon
If you are in a community affected by the proposed Charter Communications, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Network merger, there is an important deadline coming up: The FCC is seeking comments by November 12. ACM and other public interest groups oppose the merger because of the impact on the public interest, competition and Charter’s track record on dealing with PEG in parts of the country.
We think it’s important for communities to express their concerns to the FCC, particularly to talk about how Charter has or has not served the public interest. If your organization or community wants to file comments, please let me know by email at email@example.com so we can provide instructions for how to file.
Another quick reminder: The FCC’s workshop on PEG Programming and Closed Captioning is taking place next Tuesday, November 10 from 1-5 pm ET. The event is streaming live – and will also be recorded for later availability. You can get information about the event here.
We have a special Member promotion going through the end of January – if you are not yet an Organizational Member of ACM, we’d like you to join us and get the added benefits of membership for your staff, volunteers and board. Between now and January 31, 2016 new Organizational memberships will be extended by 33% – or 16 months, rather than 12 months. It’s a great way to extend the value of membership in ACM. Join us today!
