Weekly News from the President- Bravo!
Congratulations are in order for the winners of our ACM National leadership awards which will be presented at our National Conference in Pasadena in August. Each has exhibited leadership and vision that we admire and want to emulate in our community media work.
John Hauser from Access Humboldt has been awarded with the Buske Leadership Award for his pioneering and continuing work in digital archiving solutions for community media. Charles Benton and Benton Foundation are being recognized with the Koning-Stoney Award for a sincere commitment to protecting and nurturing community media projects over many years. And Jennifer Dynes of MetroEast Community Media in Gresham OR has won the Jewel Ryan White Diversity Award for her work in youth media, with young women producers and with homeless youth.
Bravo to our award winners! I am looking forward to celebrating their work when we gather in Pasadena later this summer!
The Alliance is once again offering scholarships to attend this year’s National Conference in Pasadena. We want to support members who may not have the financial wherewithal to travel to the conference to take advantage of the national networking and educational opportunities we offer every year. This year, we are offering two scholarships to the Conference August 12-14, which will cover a complete conference registration and up to $500 travel assistance.
We’re especially interested in supporting people and organizations that have an interest in developing leadership in our field, but may not have the resources to always be involved in national ACM events.
And be sure to tell your friends and colleagues about the event! We’ll be honoring achievements in community media around the U.S., and will feature important workshops and learning opportunities to help grow and strengthen community media.
