Weekly News From the President
Today is the last day of our campaign to send people to the ACM National Conference and Trade Show in Boston, MA this August as part of our Grassroots Scholarship Fund!
It’s been great to hear from everyone who’s given so far, but we want to hear from more people who care about supporting the growth and development of other people in our field. Go to our GoFundMe page and make a gift.
Or consider your station sponsoring a Grassroots Scholar this year! It’s a way to build community media by strengthening our network of people.
Film maker Mike Hazard has made his documentary on George Stoney “Happy Collaborator” available to be aired on July 1st this year – the 100th Anniversary of Stoney’s birth.
“Happy Collaborator” portrays George Stoney as a filmmaker, teacher of film, and media activist. George is widely known as “the father of public access.” “Happy Collaborator” includes clips from 17 films, interviews with collaborators who worked with George in front of and behind the camera, and intimate recordings with him.
Telvue has also made the file available on their Media Server. Let’s have a celebration July 1st!
My thanks to BronxNet in the Bronx, QPTV in Queens, and our friends at JAG for letting me visit in late May. It was a good opportunity to talk developments in community television. I’ll be speaking later this week at the SCAN NATOA annual conference in Long Beach – let me know if you’ll be there!
