Weekly News From the President: April 10
Awards & Scholarships
Every year at our National Conference, ACM recognizes leaders in our field. They are people who are dedicated to the daily work of the Alliance, visionaries in our field, and folks who show leadership through their service to community. Now is the time to consider nominating a colleague, a volunteer, a community leader, or even yourself for our leadership awards.
This year we are doing something new and are also recognizing young leaders in community media with an Emerging Leaders Award. The Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media is also continuing its support of college scholars with a $1,000 award for the Brian Wilson Scholarship.
The Awards and Scholarship competitions are open right now and you can find application materials on our website at www.allcommuntymedia.org as well as learn about recent winners.
The deadline for the Leadership Awards and the Brian Wilson Scholarship is Friday, April 21. Good luck!
The number one concern I hear from organizations around the country is how to do fundraising for community media work – and that’s why we’re concentrating on finding ways to help members grow their financial resources.
On Wednesday, April 26 on our next webinar, we’ll talk with two community media development professionals about the work they do in fundraising – and what they would do if they were starting a fundraising operation from scratch.
I hope you’ll join us and come with questions. The registration link is below in the webinar section.
Thanks again to all my friends at Wisconsin Community Media for their hospitality and inspiration at their Spring Conference last week in Milwaukee! It was great to connect with people, discuss work, and tip a Spotted Cow with friends (you’ll have to ask a Wisconsinite what that means)!
