North By MidWest Microbudget Film Festival Open for Submissions
Kalamazoo, MI, September 5, 2017– Public Media Network of Kalamazoo, Michigan is proud to announce the 4th annual North By Midwest Micro-Budget Film Festival. Small-budget filmmakers are invited to submit their films in five categories: Feature, Shorts, Documentary/Profile, Animation and MicroCam. Entries are now being accepted through November 6, 2017.
NxMW honors video and film creators that are able to produce a large-scale project on a shoestring budget. “We are excited to organize and host this film festival. We have been consistently impressed with past submissions and look forward to seeing what this year brings. ” says Mark Monk, Operations Manager of Public Media Network.
- Micro-Budget means that your budget must be equal or less than $10,000 for Long Features and $5,000 for other categories (not including equipment costs).
- Prizes in each category include: 1st Place, $1,000; 2nd Place, $500; 3rd Place, $100
- The Festival Screening will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Epic Center, in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. More details to come.
A category to watch out for is MicroCam. MicroCam is 100% recorded on your small device – iPhone, Android Phone, iPad, Tablet, GoPro (excluding DSLR cameras). You can edit on your software of choice – as long as it is under 5 minutes. This is a great category for students wanting to gain some film festival experience.
