Call for Proposals for 2018 National Conference
The Alliance for Community Media will be holding its Annual Conference and Trade Show at the Baltimore Hilton in Baltimore, MD on July 11-13, 2018. The event will gather approximately 600 community media practitioners and volunteers working in Public Educational and Government Access media, youth media, community radio, podcasting and other community-based media production, distribution and curation.
The event will highlight technical and program innovation in community media fields and is meant to encourage learning and promotion of best practices in community media settings around the United States.
ACM invites proposals for speakers, workshops and breakout sessions at the 2018 Conference which will be evaluated by staff and volunteers coordinating the event. Please send proposals to Mike Wassenaar, ACM President & CEO by November 1, 2017.
Guidelines for proposals:
- All workshops and breakout sessions are meant to be non-promotional in nature. While we have consultants as well as technical and commercial vendors who exhibit at the Conference, learning sessions are not meant to promote or sell specific services or products.
- Workshops are typically longer (2.5 to 5 hours in length) and are meant to provide attendees with practical learning and takeaway knowledge that can be applied to their circumstances.
- Breakouts are typically 90 minutes in length and feature a variety of ideas, applications and thought-provoking presentations that are meant to spur discussion, connection and discovery. Typically, they have a moderator and no more than three additional speakers.
Presenters are not compensated for their participation and should plan to cover their own costs for travel and attendance. However, ACM provides substantial registration for discounts for all presenting volunteers. Please note in your proposal if travel costs are a possible hindrance and ACM will review possible assistance.
In addition to these areas, we also welcome suggestions for Plenary or Keynote speakers who can address themes of concern for all attendees of the conference in our general sessions.
