Primary Responsibilities:
The Outreach Coordinator will initiate outreach efforts to the community of Wareham. He/she will also produce a monthly magazine format program for Comcast 9 & Verizon 30,be involved in production, membership training and facility support for the technical staff, and is required to work 40 hours per week, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays. The Outreach Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Executive Director and Technical Director.
Duties:
• Outreach – Initiate a variety of media efforts and work in conjunction with WCTV staff to educate the community of Wareham about the benefits of WCTV. Act as a WCTV representative to non-profit, educational, and municipal groups. Work with the Executive Director to develop a marketing strategy targeting potential member groups. Coordinate production projects with the Executive Director
• PSA Days – Coordinate regular Public Service Announcement Days for area non-profit, educational and municipal groups. Actively seek participants for PSA Days and provide production support to participating organizations. Work with Executive Director and Production team to coordinate production and editing of all PSAs.
• Gallery Coordination – Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Gallery at WCTV. Solicit, schedule and provide support for local artists in all Gallery exhibitions. Provide support, as needed, in coordinating monthly “Gallery Spotlight” segments featuring current artists and their works on WCTV and WCTV magazine shows. Publicize Gallery shows through WCTV and local print media outlets.
• Special Event Producer – Work with WCTV Production team to coordinate and produce all special events productions. This includes but is not limited to; coverage of parades, graduations, town meetings, awards ceremonies, televised special events, fundraisers and chamber of Commerce tradeshows.
• Training – Will teach production classes in field production and non-linear editing as assigned by Technical Director.
• Production Support – Will provide support to the production staff in the following areas based on a determination by the Technical Director: Government meeting coverage, booking, check-out and return of field equipment, covering the facility during hours scheduled for production, act as crew for various WCTV productions when not committed to outreach support during such events
• Reporting and Staff Duties – Meet weekly with the Technical Director and as requested with the Executive Director, maintain records of outreach data and Gallery participation. Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Technical Director.
• Magazine Show – Outreach Coordinator is responsible to create assigned programs solely, if necessary, or with volunteers. Assemble and oversee staff and volunteer crew. Maintain a list of WCTV Magazine show volunteers on FACIL database. Coordinate efforts for training crew and on-air talent with Technical Director. Write scripts for review by Executive Director or Technical Director. Schedule and attend pre- and post- production meetings with Production/Staff team. Schedule and attend pre-production meetings with volunteer crew and talent. Submit production for cablecast by the deadline. Solicit publicity for programs with local media and on the Community Bulletin Board. Create promotional ads to be shown on Channel 9. Write regular articles for WCTV press releases about the program with upcoming stories and events.
• Reporting and Staff Duties – Keep written records of each production regarding hours worked and volunteers used. Compile and submit monthly activity reports to the Executive Director. Maintain and store all paperwork including talent releases, programming requests, and legal documents pertaining to production. Assure that requests for cablecast are submitted in a timely fashion.
• Underwriting – Work with the Executive Director to create underwriting Rate Card. Actively pursue underwriting opportunities with area businesses for WCTV programs.
• Additional Duties – Complete additional duties related to WCTV and other assignments by Executive Director and/or Technical Director.
Experience Required:
Qualified candidates must have proven television production skills including producing, scripting, creative development, DV shooting and FCP editing. Must have a valid driver’s license, dependable vehicle and be able to lift 50 pounds.
