Primary Responsibilities:

Brave New Foundation is seeking a Communications Associate to assist in communication initiatives in support of our mission and campaigns. Core campaigns include: Cuentame, Koch Brothers Exposed, War Costs, Who are the One Percent.

DUTIES

• Manage cross-posting and distribution of campaign blogs and videos. Seek new online outlets to build new audiences.
• Research relevant outlets, bloggers, reporters, radio/TV producers – specific to each BNF campaign to increase awareness among key audiences
• Develop relationships with bloggers, reporters, producers and editorial staff
• Draft press releases and pitch stories, as suitable
• Upload press clips to BNF website and separate campaign websites; maintain press clips database
• Compile monthly press reports for each BNF campaign, including viewership statistics
• Pro-actively read and digest the news on a daily basis – paying particular attention to issues relevant to former and current campaigns and films.
• Assist the Communications Director with additional tasks as needed

Experience Required:

- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including attention to detail
- Savvy social media/network skills
- Familiar with traditional and new media; Existing relationships with media outlets highly desirable
- Highly motivated, pro-active and ambitious
- Ability to multi-task and work on various projects
- High knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiar with Photoshop and Final Cut Pro
- Ability to quickly grasp and synthesize complex issues
- Unwavering commitment to social justice and progressive causes
- Bilingual in Spanish highly desirable, but not necessary
