Open Position: Television and Video Coordinator

The Television and Video Coordinator will help us create award-winning videos, at the intersection of civic government and broadcast documentary short-film making, about our diverse, arts-oriented and always-changing community. Primary tasks will include: creating original documentary-style content promoting the City and its community, live recording and broadcast of City Council meetings, and oversight of all programming on the city’s government channels. The Coordinator’s creativity, enthusiasm and skills will be drawn upon in all stages from conception to final delivery including project pitching; storyboard creation; needed equipment identification; site locating; music selection; shot and language scripting; editing to include, titling, color correcting, graphics generation and final delivery. The Coordinator will report to the Supervisor of Television and Video.

The successful candidate must be able to work across lines of difference (race, gender, orientation, etc.), demonstrate professionalism when speaking with the public, be highly creative, and have a passion for the craft of producing AMAZING videos with state of the art tools like 4K-cinema cameras and fully professional non-linear editing software.
Additional, preferred abilities include multi-camera live-broadcast recording, three-point-lighting, video animation, storytelling, production (logistics and planning), shot composition, and color correction. Candidates who speak Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions, and requires carrying items less than 50 pounds including cameras, cables, lights, microphones, generators and other equipment. The work will require daytime, evening, and weekend availability.
