Beginning Fundraising: What You Need to Get Started – This year’s ACM Conference concentrates on different aspects of fundraising and resource development so our organizations can become more sustainable long-term. But where do you begin? What are the tools and essentials you need to know as you begin building fundraising into the DNA of your organization? At the workshop, we’ll look at the tools, systems and basics you’ll need to grow your practice.
Making History: How History Projects Can Make a Difference in Community – Community media centers have an enormous potential to make a difference in local communities by capturing and preserving local history. How can a documentary or oral history project be a catalyst for community change and deeper partnerships with your center and other groups? We’ll look at one case study in Maryland that provides important lessons. We’ll go over digital storytelling and documentary preservation techniques to help a history program be successful in your community and increase your impact.
Afternoon Sessions (12:30 – 3:00 pm)
Giving Now and Later: How to Build an Annual Giving Program that Leads to Planned Gifts – Annual gifts and planned gifts are two essential types of donations that can sustain organizations. At this workshop, we’ll talk about the essentials you need to build annual giving. We’ll also discuss how an annual giving program can lead to bequests and planned gifts from people who love the work of your organization.
Program Design and Fundraising Models for Youth Media – How do you build and sustain a youth media program in your community? We’ll look at different models for programs that work with youth to create media and invest in their future and talk about factors that funders are looking for in successful youth programs. At the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to begin or expand youth media work at your center.
