Emerging Leader Award

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes a professional, under 40 years of age, working in the field of community media, who demonstrates the values of building community through media on a consistent basis.  The individual demonstrates leadership in the field on a local, regional or national level. The award recognizes the individual for being a person who is innovative in their work to strengthen the impact of community media.

The nominee must be an ACM member to qualify for this award.

2017 Winners (two winners received the Emerging Leader Award for 2017)

Andrea Capere, Thurston Community Media

Andrea Capere currently serves as the Director of Community Relations at Thurston Community Media in Olympia, WA, and as the ACM Northwest Region Board Chair. In her career as a community media advocate and independent filmmaker, Andrea has demonstrated her commitment to building community through media.

Erica Jones, Somerville Media Center

In her roles as the Outreach Director of Somerville Media Center in Somerville, MA and as the Board Vice-Chair of the ACM Northeast Region, Erica Jones has worked to expand outreach opportunities beyond the media center, broadening its role and deepening its value to the community.
