Brian Wilson Scholarship Application

The Brian Wilson Scholarship is an annual offer to provide $1,000 in financial assistance by the Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media, promoting the values of former Board of Directors Chair Brian Wilson. The recipient will be an individual currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree granting program in media arts, broadcast journalism, community & public service, government administration, public education administration or teaching.

Criteria
Scholarship applicants must:

  1. Be an active ACM individual member, child of an active ACM individual member, or part-time employee of an access center who is an organizational member.
  2. Be a student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree granting program for media arts, broadcast journalism, community & public service, government administration, public education administration or teaching at the time the award is granted.
  3. Have experience volunteering or working to strengthen their community and be able to articulate how their planned career will help to build and connect their community.

Eligibility restrictions
Scholarship applicants MAY NOT be:  

  1. A sitting F/ACM or ACM National Board of Directors member or member of their family;
  2. A member of the scholarship selection committee or member of their family; or
  3. An ACM staff member or member of their family. 

Application Material

1. Submit a 1,000 word biographical essay detailing your experiences, and how your educational goals support the values of the scholarship program.
2. Confirmation of school enrollment (the scholarship check will be made payable to the school at which the applicant is enrolled, or to a financial institution for the purpose of repaying a student loan).
